Serendipaceratops (meaning "serendipitous horned face") is a genus of herbivorous ornithischian dinosaur from the early Cretaceous Period of Australia. The type species, S. arthurcclarkei, was named in 2003.
Discovery and species[]
In the east cost of Victoria in 1993 during the Dinosaur Cove project, an ulna of an ornithischian was found. In 2003, Tom Rich and Patricia Rich described it as "Serendipaceratops arthurcclarkei". Since Ceratopsian fossils in Australia are extremely rare, they went with the idea of classifying it as a theropod. However, Dale Russell pointed out the similarities with Leptoceratops.
