Scleromochlus is a monospecific genus of ornithodiran from Late Triassic Scotland. Its possible that it may be related to pterosaurs. The type and only species of Scleromochlus is named S. taylori.
Discovery[]
The fossils of this animal have been found in the Carnian Lossiemouth Sandstone of Scotland. It was discovered at approximately 1900 and is listed as specimen BMNH R3556, a partial skeleton preserved as an impression in sandstone.

Upon discovery, Scleromochlus became the namesake of a new family named Scleromochlidae in the clades Ornithodira and possibly as a basal member Pterosauromorpha.
