Pyrotherium is an extinct genus of South American ungulate, of the order Pyrotheria, that lived in what is now Argentina and Bolivia, during the Late Oligocene epoch. The species P. romeroi is the most recent and largest known member of Pyrotheria, with an estimated body length of 2.9 to 3.6 meters (9.5 to 11.8 feet).[1] Pyrotherium also likely had a short trunk, similar to that of an elephant or tapir.
