Poposaurus is a genus of pseudosuchian from the Late Triassic of North America. Poposaurus was bipedal, and evolved so separately from dinosaurs. It part of the group Poposauroidea, which also contains Effigia, Arizonasaurus, Lotosaurus, Sillosuchus, and Shuvosaurus. Fossils of the genus have been found in the Chinle Formation of the southwest United States and the Doswell Formation of Virginia.
