Pliopithecus is a primate from late Miocene to Pliocene France, Switzerland, Slovakia, and Spain. It was in the parvorder Catarrhini, which means that it is grouped with Old World monkeys, primates from Africa and Asia, and apes, such as gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees, humans, etc.
