Patagopteryx is a genus of Advanced Short-Tailed Avialian from late Cretaceous Argentina. It was about 1.6 ft (50 cm) tall (close to the size of a turkey). Known from much of a skeleton (although not a complete skull).
Etymology[]
'Patagopteryx' is made up of 'Patago' which is derived from 'Patagonia' and 'Teryx' which is Greek for 'Wing' or 'Feather' so the name translates to 'Patagonian Wing'.
