Panamericansaurus (meaning Pan American Energy lizard) is an extinct genus of sauropod that lived in the Late Cretaceous of Argentina. The type species is Panamericansaurus schroederi.

Discovery and Naming[]

The holotype (MUCPv-417) was found in the layers of Allen Formation in June 2003. In 2010, it was named by Jorge Orlando Calvo and Juan Domingo Porfiri. the generic na named after Pan American Energy company which financially supported the paleontological investigations, while the specific name is named after the Schroeder family.

Description[]

The fossil consists of five tail vertebrae, a left humerus, rib fragments, and haemal arches. The length of the holotype is 11 centimeters (36 feet). The humerus is 123 feet long.

Classification[]

It is classified as a member of Titanosauridae.
