Palaeoryctes is a genus of cimolestid from Paleocene North America. It resembled a shrew or an opossum in its overall appearance, holding a similar niche as those mammals in its time.

The animal measured at 12.5 centimeters (or 4.9 feet) long, as a slender and sharp nosed mammal, and the animal also weighed 20 to 60 grams (0.71 to 2.12 ounces).[1]
