Odobenocetops (meaning "cetacean that seems to walk on its teeth") was a small toothed whale known from the Late Miocene of Peru and Chile. It had two tusks, and, in some fossils, one tusk was longer than the other. They used their tusks for fighting, either for courtship rights or for territorial purposes.
In Popular Culture[]
Odobenocetops featured in Nigel Marven's Sea Monsters where a juvenile Megalodon appeared out of the gloom and gave chase to the early whale. The Odobenocetops got away, and resumed scouring the seabed for food. It also featured in Jurassic Park: Builder as an unlockable DNA tournament animal.
