The fossil skull of Occitanosaurus

Occitanosaurus is a dubious genus of plesiosaur that belonged to the family of Elasmosauridae. Occitanosaurus lived during the Early Jurassic Period in the ocean that covered what is now Europe.Fossil specimens consist of one very well preserved complete skeleton. Occitanosaurus was a medium sized variety of plesiosaur, reaching approximately 4 meters (13 feet). It is now considered to be a species of Microcleidus.
