Neoparadoxia cecilialina is an extinct desmostylia mammal that lived California during the Miocene epoch around 10.5 million years ago. Despite being a hippopotamus-like animal this semiaquatic herbivore is the closest living relatives to elephants, sea cows, and manatees.
