Mylodon was a species of giant ground sloth dating back into the Pleistocene to the Holocene 10'000 years ago. Its name means "peaceful tooth". Like all grown sloths Mylodon was an herbivore that actually had little osteoderms that helped it protect against predators. The large claws on Kulodon also helped with this as well as helping it reach vegetation. The Mylodon lived in Patagonia South America. Reasons for its extinction are either ancient human hunting or climate change which would have changed the flora and habitat.
