Morrison formation

The Morrison Formation is Late Jurassic sedimentary rock that is found in the western US. It is located in Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas,Oklahoma,Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Idaho.[1] It covers an area of 1.5 million square km (600,000 square miles), although only a tiny fraction is exposed and accessible to geologists and paleontologists. It was named after Morrison, Colorado, where the first fossils were discovered by Arthur Lakes in 1877.

Paleofauna[]

The dinosaur lived there was Allosaurus, Ornitholestes, Camptosaurus,Stegosaurus,Hesperosaurus,Mymoorapelta,Gargoyleosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Fosterovenator, Dryosaurus, etc. Sauropods that have been discovered include the Diplodocus , Camarasaurus , Brachiosaurus, Apatosaurus , Barosaurus, and Haplocanthosaurus.
