Holmesina

Holmesina is an extinct genus of xenarthran armadillo from Pleistocene Texas, USA. When South America connected with Central America, many animals migrated into and out of South America. Smilodon and dire wolves moved into South America, while Holmesina moved out. The animal is a close relative to the modern armadillo, and therefore also closely related to the glyptodonts of the Ice Age.

Distribution[]

They traveled north during the faunal interchange, and adapted well to North America, like the ground sloths, glyptodonts, armadillos, capybaras, and other South American immigrants.
