Holbotia ("Of Holbot") is an extinct Advanced Short-Tailed Avialian from early Cretaceous Mongolia. The type species is H. ponomarenkoi.
Description[]
The holotype of Holbotia consists of jaws, a cervical vertebra, a furcula, and hind limb bones. Other bones were discovered, including an incomplete femur, fragments of the wing, the distal part of the right metatarsus, a tibia in two pieces, a hallux, proximal and central fragments of the right tarsometatarsus, and most of the pedal digit phalanges. Holbotia would likely have a very flexible neck in life, as well as robust hind limbs. Holbotia is also around the size of a common starling.
Paleoecology[]
The ecology of Holbotia in life is highly unknown, due to not much information being uncovered about the genus.
