Hippuritida, also known as Rudistes, is an order of strange-shaped marine autobranch bivalves, first appearing in the Late Jurassic and becoming a major ecosystem builder by the Cretaceous in places such as the Tethys Ocean. Their reign ended alongside the dinosaurs during the K-Pg Extinction Event.
