Ferganasaurus (meaning fergana valley lizard) is an extinct genus of sauropod. The type species is Ferganasaurus verzilini.
Discovery and Naming[]
The holotype (PIN N 3042/1) was discovered in 1966 by Kurzanov and Rozhdestvensky in Balabansai formation. It was subsequently lost, but the drawing of holotype remained. An expedition discovered a second specimen. In 2003, it was formally described by Alifanov and Averianov.
Description[]
The holotype has two dorsal,sixteen tail bones,a pelvis and limb bones. No cranial material was assigned to it despite the original drawing of holotype.
