The European Water Buffalo (Bubbles Murrensis) is an extinct species of water buffalo which inhabited Europe during the Pleistocene.
Description[]
The European Water Buffalo's general appearance is similar to the extant Wild Asian Water Buffalo. The skull, however, seems to be different from most of its relatives, mostly due to the shape of the horns and the noticeable lack of a boss.[1]
Distribution and range[]
Fossil sites indicate that the animal lived in river valleys, swamps, and wetlands, and further fossil evidence suggests that the species even survived in cold glacial periods.[2]
