A eukaryote is an organism with a true nucleus to contain its genetic information. Eukaryotes reproduce by mitosis, which is when the cell divides to create two identical daughter cells, and meiosis, which is required for sexual reproduction. Skin cells reproduce by mitosis, but the birth of a new organism requires meiosis to make sperm cells in males and egg cells in females. Eukarya makes up only one domain of life, and the other two domains are Archaea and Bacteria. There are eight different kingdoms in Eukarya: Amoebae, Archaeplastida (plants), Chromalveolata, Rhizaria, Excavata, Opisthokonta, Animalia, and Fungi.
