Discovery and Naming[]

The holotype {SHN (JJS)-170} was discovered at Praia da Amoreira Porto Novo member of Lourhina formation. In 2014, it was named by Fernando Escaso. The generic name Euosdryosauruus combines "euos", meaning East, with "dryo" and "saurus" meaning tree lizard, referencing how the genus is an eastern relative of Dryosaurus. The specific name, "nanohallucis". is named after the small hallux it has.

It is a small dinosaur, measuring at 1.6 meters (5.2ft) in length. The right femur also measures about 188.5 millimeters (7.42 inches) long. The holotype is fragmented but well preserved. It contains a hip vertebra, eight vertebrates, the entire left leg, etc. It is differentiated from other dryosaur by having unique feet that include only a phalanx bone.

Classification[]

It was classified as a basal member of Dryosauridae. It was initially classified as a sister taxon to the family until Rotatori found that it is classified as a true dryosaurid in 2024.

Paleoecology[]

Since it was discovered at the Lourinha Formation, it coexisted with various dinosaurs such as Torvosaurus.
