Synonyms

Eotriceratops (meaning "dawn three-horned face") is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsian dinosaur which lived in the area of North America during the late Cretaceous period. The only named species is E. xerinsularis.

Discovery and naming[]

Eotriceratops was discovered in North America, and its fossils can be found in places such as Alberta, Canada.

Description[]

The Eotriceratops existed in the Maastrichtian period to 66 Million years ago. It has a distinct frill, similar to that of a Triceratops. There is a difference between these dinosaurs, though. Eotriceratops has the more upright frill, while Triceratops has a frill that faces back.
