Eomaia

Eomaia in a tree.

Eomaia was the earliest of all known placental mammals. It was a small mouse-sized creature that lived during the Early Cretaceous Period, about 125 million years ago, and probably evolved from Therapsids. Phisiologists have found anatomical evidence which supports the idea that Eomaia probably lived in trees.
