Entelodon (meaning 'Perfect-Toothed') is a large ancestor of hoofed animals (mainly pigs). It can grow up to 2 meters tall, about the size of a rhino, and can weigh up to 1 tonne. Entelodon has been described as the 'pig from hell'. There aggressive, and can easily can fight off many predators.

Diet

Entelodon is like a moving waste disposal unit, capable of eating anything from rotten fruit, to dead bodies. It's strong jaws can crush bones, but it results in Brocken teeth. It's teeth are also has wear marks, resulting from eating nuts, and roots. Strong muscles make it a fast runner, making it a hunter of small, hoofed animals. It's strong neck muscles can crush even the most solid of bones to a pulp. But when food is scarce, they even turn cannibalistic, eating each other.

Social behavior

Entelodons are very aggressive towards each other. Males, being solitary, they fight fiercely with each other over territory, and food. Many fossilized skulls found deep wounds on the snout, showing that many fight resulted in terrible wounds. In fact, the only threat to an entelodon is another one. Females are found in small family units, protecting there young from predators and male entelodons.

Entelodons belongs in a group of Artiodactyl (hoofed) animals called 'Entelodonts'. The group consists of large, brutish-looking cousins of pigs. The group filled the niches of hunters and scavengers. Despite their sucsess from 45 million years age, the whole group became extinct 23 million years ago due to competition with their cousins, the pigs.
