Elessaurus gondwanoccidens is an extinct genus of possible tanystropheid that lived in Brazil during the Early Triassic period around 247 to 251 million years ago. It was named after the alternate name of the character Aragorn (Elessar) from from J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.[1]
