Duriavenator is a genus of theropod dinosaur described in 2008 by Roger Benson. Its fossils were excavated in England. The scientific name of the only species of the genus is D. hesperis, formerly known as "Megalosaurus hesperis". The Duriavenator lived during the Bajotian stage, about 170 million years, becoming one of the oldest tetanurans. The name of the genre comes from the Latin duria, derived from the name of Dorset; and venator, which means "Hunter ". This genre has also had its unofficial name: "Walkersaurus ", which is a nomen nudum.
