Temporal range: Late Triassic – Early Jurassic
Madsen & Welles, 2000
The Dilophosauridae ("double-ridged lizards") is a family of carnivorous theropod dinosaurs, possibly belonging to the Ceratosauria. The only five members are Dilophosaurus (North America, Asia), Dracovenator (Africa), Sinosaurus (Asia), Cryolophosaurus (Antarctica) and possibly Monolophosaurus (Asia) which all lived from the Late Triassic to the Mid Jurassic. All five of them also have crests. Zupaysaurus possibly also belongs to this group.
