Dendromaia ("Tree mother") is an extinct genus of varanopid from the Carboniferous period of Nova Scotia; Canada. It contains a single species, Dendromaia unamakiensis. It is the oldest known varanopid and the first one known from Nova Scotia. It is known from two skeletons, an adult and a juvenile, found with a taphonomy that indicated that the two were hiding beneath the roots of a lycopod tree. The adult skeleton's tail is wrapped around the juvenile skeleton, possibly suggesting that this is the oldest known evidence of parental care.
