Dawndraco ("dawn dragon") is a dubious genus of pterosaur from the Late Cretaceous period of North America. Its name comes from the Dawn deity of the Iroquois. Its scientific name, kanzai, comes from the Kanza tribe of Kansas. It is a close relative of Pteranodon and Geosternbergia. It was originally believed to be a Pteranodon, while it was later believed to be a Geosternbergia. However, later analysis revealed that it was a completely new species. It was described in 2010. However, a new study in 2017 determined that it was likely the same species as Geosternbergia. However, this is still a controversial theory.
