Dawndraco kanzai ("dawn dragon") is a dubious genus of pterosaur from the Late Cretaceous period of North America. Its name comes from the Dawn deity of the Iroquois. Its scientific name, kanzai, comes from the Kanza tribe of Kansas. It is a close relative of Pteranodon. It was originally believed to be a species Pteranodon, while it was later believed to be a species Geosternbergia (A genus now synonymous with Pteranodon). However, later analysis revealed that it was a completely new species. It was described in 2010. However, a new study in 2017 determined that it was likely the same species as Pteranodon. However, this is still a controversial theory.
