A common group of Primitive Coelurosaurs that is short-armed, the Compsognathidae includes both dinosaurs with scales and dinosaurs with feather. It's still unclear what they belong to; they have been classified in the Tyrannraptora, the Maniraptoriformes and just the normal Coelurosauria.

They lived from the late Jurassic to the end of the late Cretaceous.

Procompsognathids resemble Compsognathids; both groups share a name and are small theropods, as well are distant relatives.
