Climacograptus is a genus of graptolite from the Middle Ordovician to the Early Silurian with a worldwide distribution. It was a colonial animal, with the colonies being arranged in a single branch with two row of individual zooids running along either side giving it a serrated profile.[1] They were filter feeders that would have floated within the water column. There are several species within the genus, and it is used as an index fossil in biostratigraphy.
