Chaoyangia is a short-tailed Avialian from early Cretaceous China.  Only the torso, hips, and legs are known.  Some skeletons that were once thought to be from Chaoyangia are now considered to be from a different bird, Songlingornis.[1]

Description[]

Unique among ornithurines, Chaoyangia possesses two dorsal processes on the ischium, and thus makes it a valid taxon.[1]

It is one of the earliest birds in the Jiufotang Formation, with a temporal range of around 120 mya(Million years ago).[1]
