Aphanosaurs are members of the clade Aphanosauria. The sister clade of Aphanosauria is Ornithodira, which includes the Dinosaurs & Pterosaurs, the former of which includes birds. Aphanosaurs first appeared around the late permian & went extinct shortly after, around the middle triassic.
