Borhyaena is an extinct metatherian that roamed Miocene South America before dying off 15 million years ago. It was more closely related to marsupials than to any other creature, and is estimated to have weighed 30 kg. It was most likely the descendant of a larger animal similar in anatomy, Proborhyaena.
