The Bone wars was the competition to find the most fossils between Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh. The feud started at New Jersey.

The Dispute[]

Though Marsh and Cope were friends at first, their different backgrounds and strong personalities slowly ruined their relationship. One day, at a dig site in New Jersey, Marsh bribed operators to credit the findings there to him instead of Cope[1] Cope found out and then humiliated Marsh through mass media. Then one day, at the same site, marsh humiliated cope by saying that he had placed the head of an Elasmosaurus on it's tail. Marsh had lied so he could get his revenge on cope. Finally, they agreed on the challenge which cope won.
