Aymberedactylus (Am-ber-dak-te-lus) is a pterosaur from the Early Cretaceous (108 million years ago). It was discovered in 2016 with a wingspan about 2 meters and was found in Brazil - Crato Formation.
Discovery and naming[]
Aymberedactylus was first found in Brazil in the Aptian-Albian Crato Formation in 2016 and described in the same year. The specimen type was MN 7596-V and at the time it was discovered, the only genus description fossils were the lower jaws. The taxa was named by Rodrigo Vargas Pêgas, Maria Eduarda de Castro Leal, and Alexander Kellner in September, 2016. It's full species name is "Aymberedactylus cearensis," meaning "small lizard finger" from the Tupi word "aymbere."
