Austriadactylus is an extinct genus of pterosaur that lived in the Middle Jurassic period in Europe.
Discovery and Naming[]
In 2002 paleontologist Fabio Marco Dalla Vecchia named and described Austriadactylus. It is only known from a partial skeleton. The genus name means "finger of Austria", using a common suffix for pterosaurs and the country it was discovered in.
Description[]
Austriadactylus is a member of the Rhamphorhynchoid group of pterosaurs. The group is used to describe pterosaurs with bizarre jaws and long tails. The group is now considered questionable.
Classification[]
It was assigned to the family Campylognathoididae in 2015.
