A prehistoric fly preserved in Amber
Amber is resin from prehistoric trees that has been fossilized over millions of years. Notable examples include the Baltic Amber, the Dominican Amber, the New Jersey Amber and the Burmese Amber. Amber is also a type of gemstone used in jewelry.
Many animals have been found in amber, mostly being arthropods, worms, and small vertebrates, but even some ammonites and gastropods have been found in Burmese amber.
