Afrotheria is a super-order of mammals that originated in Africa, actually Gondwana, around 105 mya. This super-order includes elephant shrews, tenrecs and golden moles, the aardvark, hyraxes, elephants, manatees, and the dugong. It is one of four super-orders of placental mammals; the other three are Laurasiatheria, Xenarthra, and Euarchontoglires.
