Acantholipan is an extinct of genus of nodosaur from the Late Cretaceous Pen Formation in Coahuila, Mexico. The type and only species, Acantholipan gonzalezi, was named by Rivera-Sylva et al., 2018. Known remains include isolated bones and osteoderms.
Discovery and naming[]
In the north of Mexico, fragmentary fossils have been found of nodosaurids.
Paleogeography[]
A. gonzalezi is the first named Ankylosaur from Mexico that adds to the currently rare nodosaurid diversity from southern Laramidia.
