Ark: Survival Evolved is a survival-based adventure game set on an island in space called an ARK. Players must survive in a world filled with roaming dinosaurs and other extinct animals.
In September 2016, an expansion pack called Scorched Earth was released. The new animals introduced in it are a mixture of living animals and fantasy creatures.
Creatures[]
There are many different creatures to be found in ARK: Survival Evolved. Every creature currently revealed, some of which may not yet be found in game. While many of the creatures are based off real animals some of them are also fictional creatures made only for the game and others are based off of actual creatures from myth and fantasy.

Taming[]
Many animals in Ark can be tamed to help the player trough out the game however not all animals are tamed using the same method while others can't be tamed at all. For example many animals can be tamed using kibble while others require special kinds of food and can't be tamed with kibble. The main methods for taming different creatures are knock out and passive while all knock outs require food to be tamed not all passives take food to be tamed some of the passive tames require a special type of method in order to be tamed.
Although some passive tames can be knocked out they can't be tamed when they are unconscious passive tames have to be awake in order to be tamed.
Reception[]
ARK: Survival Evolved received "mixed or average" reviews on Metacritic getting a metascore of 70/100 on PC[1] and 69/100 on both PS4[2] & Xbox One.[3] However, its Nintendo Switch version received "generally unfavorable" reviews holding a metascore of 29/100.[4]
Trivia[]
- Yi Ling was actually called by its proper name, Yi qi for a short time in development, lasting one Community Crunch.
- Piranha's were original called by their proper name Megapiranha then they got changed to piranha later on in the game.
- Creatures like coelacanths, dung beetles, giant bees, lampreys, leeches, piranhas, sabertooth salmon, Titanoboa and trilobites can't breed in the game like most other tameable creatures.
- Not all creatures in Ark produce feces to fertilize the players crops.
- Many of the invertebrates in Ark like araneomorphus, Arthropleura, dung beetles and Pulmonoscorplus eat spoiled meat which is easier to tame them with compared to giving them regular non spoiled meat.
- Some fictional creatures in Ark are said to have existed during real time periods, glow bugs are said to have existed during the Miocene period, jug bugs are said to have existed during the Holocene period, Morellatops are said to have come from the Cretaceous period,
