There are lots of prehistoric animals [citation needed], and some get way more attention in dinosaur documentaries than others (e.g., Spino, Rex, Giga).
These are the top 10 prehistoric creatures that deserve more attention in paleo media.
10 - Omnidens
Anomalocaris always gets the attention when a paleo doc takes place in the Cambrian (only like 3 do, though). The larger and more dominant Omnidens is often ignored. As one of my favorite prehistoric animals, I dream of the day Omnidens finally gets shown on the big screen.
9 - Megalosaurus
It being the first non-avian dinosaur named by science, I'm quite surprised Megalosaurus hasn't received much attention in documentaries (it does appear in 1 or 2, I think).
8 - Shonisaurus & other giant ichthyosaurs
Triassic animals need more attention as it is, but these giant sea reptiles need it most.
7 - Titanoboa
The biggest snake ever does appear in one documentary, and it portrayed quite nice. However, given how popular this serpent is, I would think more awesomebro battle documentaries would heap it with attention. I think the reason they don't is because the creatures that lived alongside Titanoboa are boring to most people.
6 - Psittacosaurus
First of all, it lived with Microraptor, and Microraptor appears a lot in paleo docs. And secondly, it has awesome quills on its tail (1 species does).
5 - Yutyrannus
Yutyrannus is a big hunter tyrannosaur and the largest confirmed feathered animal. Its in cool video games but where are the beautiful tyrant's documentaries?
4 - Purussaurus
This giant caiman is possibly bigger than even Deinosuchus! Once again, I think the reason for lack of this creature is because coexisting creatures are boring to most people.
3 - Arambourgiana
I know this massive azhdarchid is known from poor remains, but that didn't stop the gazillion Spinosaurus documentaries. This guy was the tallest and possibly the biggest flyer ever.
2 - Fasolasuchus
This huge croc is the biggest land hunter after the dinosaurs. It appears as an ugly mutant in 65, but that's pretty much it.
1 - T-Rex
Just kidding.
1 - Archaeopteryx
Where is the first bird? Not even in Jurassic World. :(
