Remember the guys who “revived” the Dire Wolf? Well now they want to try and bring back the Moa. From what I can find they’re planning on using an Emu or a Tinamou (closest relatives of Moa) as a genetic template for their Moa. They didn’t state which species they want to revive, and list various Moa genera on their website.
Apparently Peter Jackson is supporting this. Nonetheless, it will be great to see Moas be revived from extinction (especially since it’s a bird). They don’t have any date for when they plan on hatching individuals.
Because it’s a bird, appreciation of this project is mandatory.
