I'm going to be gone for the next week-ish, as I'm heading back out to Montana for another paleo dig! There's some fun stuff planned along the way (revisiting places I haven't been in 14 years), and of course I'll share photos when I return.

Only downside to this is Jurassic World Rebirth releases when I'm out there; I might see it day 1, but not 100% sure.

I created this map several years ago and recreated it more recently. In version 1, there was a random selection of colors, but later I decided to select them in accordance with the periods of habitat of the animals. I have already published several similar maps with other parts of the world. I will gradually post all of them here, and if they get a lot of likes, then perhaps soon I will create a new map, with North America. I took all the data from the Paleobiology Database.

So, which animals from this map do you like the most? I find it difficult to name anyone specifically, but I want to draw your attention to Lissodus (107). In the Triassic, this area was located in the depths of Pangea, but shark-like fishes still lived in the lakes. This really surprised me during the process of creating the map.

Megazostrodon:Megazostrodon wasn’t much bigger than a mouse,but it’s a legend in our evolution,we will evolve from this creature and become the dominant predator of the earth,however the best for these creatures is to lay low and hunt insects

Litargosuchus:This little cheetah croc is a vicious animal,and the main predator of Megazostrodon,it’s only around 45 centimeters long,but it’s not to be messed with

Aardonyx,Massospondylus and Antetonitrus:These are three closely related Sauropodomorphs:Their home is here in the desert.Lets talk about smallest one first,Aardonyx,it’s short legs are the reason for it’s short height,not even reaching the shoulder of an average man,it’s diet mainly consists of short growing Shrubs.Massospondylus is the most common Sauropodomorph here,it was around the size of a bear,it’s diet was of mid growing leaves and its limbs were much longer than Aardonyx,meaning these 2 didn’t have to compete much at all.Finally is Antetonitrus,an early try of the general sauropod build,this build will eventually rise and the old Sauropodomorphs will evolve into new,stronger build

Dracovenator:Dracovenator was related to the famous Dilophosaurus,it was as big as 2 lions and was as long as a Nile Crocodile.It’s jaws had a weird curve near the start,a powerful weapon that makes any prey caught hard to let go.It is the top predator and not to be messed with

Megapnosaurus:A close relative of the famous Coelophysis Megpanosaurus were the Coyotes of prehistoric Africa,they hunted Litargosuchus and Lesothosaurus,they were fast and agile but very lightly built,that’s why they didn’t hunt prey much bigger than a Cat.

Lesothosaurus:Leaothosaurus was as fast and agile Dinosaur,their legs and tail were long and lean making them fast and able to make quick turns,which is helpful when your main predators weigh 4x your size,their not much bigger than a cat.
