Yo dudes, its me Hobo. Wanted to make an announcement now that June is coming up. I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day, and thanks to our troops who gave it all. Now, on to business.

Many know that the wiki side of this community is generally overshadowed by discussion boards (and most of the pages are generally less than acceptable), so the discord has decided It would be cool if we all came together and worked on fixing that. Thanks to @BigDumFish99 for coming up with the idea. Hopefully this works so we can make this a monthly challenge to fix the wiki bit by bit, using themes and rewards every month!

To start with we'll only do 500 edits, just to see how fast we're able to complete it, but this could be subject to change. If we get it done fast enough, we may just push it to even more! With that being said:

THE RULES:

• Each month we're only doing one subject, from the time this is posted to the end of June the theme will be birds, or avian dinosaurs. This goes for their pages and any families/clades of bird. Any other edits of other pages would be appreciated but wouldn't be counted towards your points.

• You have to self-report your edits here, to cut down on confusion. Just make a brief summary of what you did to the page (Ex: edited Rodriguez Solitaire, removed plagiarism, and added an image), this would count as one point. Now if you take a stub article that is only a sentence or two long (or making a brand new page for a bird) and make it into a page more akin to the wiki's standards would add 5 points. Replacing all plagiarized content in pages with completely original info will also award you those. I'll give an example as the first comment if you guys are confused.

• Please don't just make your edits super low effort (such as just adding an image or a couple categories), that won't count here mostly due to it being an easy way to cheese the system and would clutter pages and this post to an unnatural degree. I'd like to be able to count these well.

• Please be civil towards each other, and don't start edit wars or anything.

• Oh and please only respond to this post to report your edits or ask any questions. Anything else will be deleted so we can count easier.

Prizes for #1 contributor

• Discord: The ability to choose what the movie/show (or if you want to stream your gameplay for some reason) is on for the discord watch party.

• Dinopedia-Only users: commission @BigDumFish99 to draw/paint something for you (likely wont be finished before July so fair warning)

• Reward for both sides: commission @Cooner21 to make something for you, you get added to the main page for the month, AND you will be added to the new page of the Hall of Fame.

• If you are on the discord and dinopedia both, you can choose one or the other.

• Examples for families and clades: Felidae, Bovidae, Arthropoda.

• Examples for specific genera: Simurghia, Eocetus, Koleken.

I've noticed a few of our badges could use some updating, and some don't even have a Dinopedia theming! I wanna change it, so give some suggestions!

• First, the badge for making 5 edits is "New as Natovenator" but the genus is from 2022, so should we pick a newer genus so it stays relevant?

• Most of the category-adding badges don't have a theme, so what do you think we should add there? Maybe something with classification or families?

• Also need ideas for blog posts and comments on said blogs, so maybe making a statement or something noisy?

• ALL of the "edit for _ days in a row" badges have no theming besides the full year one, being "King of the Wiki". Got any ideas there? Maybe based on time periods?

• And of course "Welcome to Dinopedia" needs an image

Feel free to give your ideas down below, and I'd love to consider them for the badges so they can all be themed and make the wiki more fun to edit!

Just wanted to update y'all on some irl stuff. I have exam week soon and I currently have a few papers to do, so I will be visiting here much less often. I will regularly check throughout the day if I can, but I won't be able to do as much replying or posting anytime soon, so if there is a problem and you ping me, do not expect me to see it until way later.

If you do still need to ping me, then thats fine, but if its for something like locking a post, I think it'd be best to contact another mod like Nizaluddin or Concavenator Wrangler who is more active than me at the moment.

What would happen if the Jurassic Park franchise never existed, all proof of it and its influence wiped off the face off the earth. What would the generic public know of dinosaurs? What would paleomedia like seeing as quite the sizable chunck take at least a little inspiration from it, or too much (*cough* 65 *cough*). Feel free to leave your thoughts on what it would be like here.

After a day of letting the wiki decide from the 6 top submissions, the majority have decided that @Nizaluddin 's submission, Titanoraptor sinoensis, is the winner!

I think any one of the contestants deserved the win, and I hope every one of them had fun making them!

Now, as per the guidelines of the contest, Nizaluddin will be featured on the main page for a whole month!

As y'all may know, I gained mod status, and now I'd like to make some big steps toward a new wave of good times for Dinopedia. Me and Nizal are already fixing up the List of Dinosaur Genra (he's doing more work on it than me lol), which is something I'd said I would help with, along with fixing categories.

But I wanted to do make sure I don't pull a politician card and ask to be elected, get elected, and then do nothing while I'm here. So I wanted to see what the community thinks need to be done.

Is there anything y'all think I can use my powers for to help fix things up here? I want to help y'all out, so what would be the best thing to start on with fixing this wiki?

The JP3 logo would be the default one.

Spinosaurus would be in every Jurassic Park movie.

The Indominus rex would be look like this (original drawing by Earnie Draws)

Most Dinosaur documentaries would have an episode dedicated to where/when Spinosaurus lived.

This thing…

… would still suck.

Every predatory prehistoric creature ever would be compared to spinosaurus.

Everyone of those terrible Jurassic Park ripoffs would have a Spinosaurus on the cover.

There would 100s of Spinosaurus toys.

This thing…

…would be Spinosaurus themed (yes, it meant to be T-rex).

And T-rex would just be another random dinosaur that everyone hates because of JP3.
