Enchoteuthis

Like a lot of Paleomedia, Dinosaurs of Alaska uses speculative material, I’m going to make sure it’s all grounded in reality and is something that animals today actually do. Nonetheless I need Y’all to review it. Comment if you notice anything that doesn’t seem right.

Generic species

These are plants, animals, and other stuff that are used as backdrops and aren’t known to have lived in late Cretaceous Alaska. All these species did exist at this time though.

• Sea weed (I’m not actually sure if anything like Kelp existed 70 million years ago, if it didn’t please tell me)

• Crawfish

Mesozoic Glaciers

I want to add glaciers into the story, because it gives a sense of scale. I’m not sure if it was actually cold enough for glaciers to form, even in the arctic.

Beach combing Saurornitholestes

Basically, some Saurornitholestes will spend some time hunting on the beach to feed one whatever washes up, crabs, jellyfish, ammonites, etc.

Color changing Enchoteuthis

Modern Octopus change color (I’m not sure if all species do), and despite looking like a squid, Enchotethis is an Octopus.

Bird eating Enchoteuthis

Here’s something a lot more speculative, I want to show an Enchoteuthis grabbing a small Hesperornis to eat, but I don’t know if it’s a fully reasonable idea.

Paleoarctic Subnivean

If you don’t know what that is, a Subnivean climate is the environment between the ground and the top of the snow in the winter, usually a bunch on interconnecting tunnels . Insects, mammals, and even birds inhabit them. I had the idea that the mammals in the book could live in one too.

Fireweed fields

Afaik, Fireweed has not been preserved in the fossil record. But I really want to add fireweed fields because it serves as a nice Alaskan backdrop. The family that fireweed is apart of was present in the Cretaceous.

Hesperornis roosting on rocks like seals

The reason I want the birds to rest like seals and not today’s sea birds is because Hesperornis can’t fly and is much bigger, and stuff like penguins are very different from Hesperornis.

Troodon pack hunting

In the story, the Troodons form temporary hunting gangs to bring down larger, or faster prey. This is mainly based on crows and how they will form gangs.

Swimming Albertosaurus

We have evidence of Tyrannosaurus swimming, why not Albertosaurus?

Freshwater Hybodus

Some sharks today will swim into freshwater, so it’s possible Hybodus did too.

Herbivores in herds

I’m pretty sure there’s evidence for stuff like Edmontosaurus traveling in herds, but not so much for the ceratopsians like Pachyrhinosaurus and the Leptoceratopsid.

Head butting Alaskacephales

Out of all the speculations, this one probably has the best evidence. There’s direct fossil evidence that Pachycephalosaurus used its dome to headbut, and what’s Pachycephalosaurus’s closest relative? Alaskacephale.

Teeth from this species were found in the Prince Creek Formation. There were few others from this order in the formation

2. Hesperornis

This sea bird was found somewhere in Alaska, I don't know which species it was. It was one of many sea birds that lived in the State

3. Enchoteuthis sp

This unnamed species in the genus has been found in Canada and Alaska

4. Gypsonictops sp

I like this guy, he's very goofy. another mammal from the Prince Creek formation

5. Saurornitholestes langstoni

Saurornitholestes teeth have been found in the Prince Creek Formation, it is one of three Dromaeosaurids from there

6. Tylosaurus progier

Tylosaurus teeth were found in the hadrosaur specimen known as "The Talkeetna mountains hadrosaur"

7. Mixosaurus

I don't remember which species it was but one of them lived here

8. Albertosaurus

There are fossils of an Albertosaurine from Alaska that are probably from Albertosaurus.

9. intermediate leptoceratopsid

Yep, Pachyrhinosaurus isn't the only ceratopsians from Alaska, this little goober was discovered in 2021

Abstract

Spinosaurus has historically been known as aquatic. And now it's terrestrial. And now it's aquatic again. And then it's semi-aquatic. It was subterranean once. And then it went back to aquatic. Now it's semi-aquatic. This paper argues that Spinosaurus had the ability to fly through the use of hydrogen-filled bags attached to its spine.

Body

Spinosaurus is hypothesized able to maneuver through the air through a combination of hydrogen-filled bladders attached to its spine and its rudder-like tail.

Bladders were found on Specimen SCAM-1233 and URMOM-6969 between the neural spines, containing about 2 liters of gas on average. 18 were found in varying sizes, holding a total of 40 liters of gas.

Tendons were also found on the neural spines of URMOM-6969. Muscles between the neural spines allowed Spinosaurus to squeeze the bladders to expel Hydrogen, allowing Spinosaurus to control its vertical movement.

An electrolyzer was found in the stomach of Spinosaurus. This electrolyzer appeared to be man-made in nature, turning Water into Hydrogen and Oxygen. It may have been able to convert other materials, but I don't care because it's my paper and you can't prove it. The origin of the electrolyzer was dubious, but after careful analysis of URMOM-6969's anatomy, its fingers seemed perfectly capable of operating a Time-Space warp machine. This suggests that in some point of URMOM-6969's life, it traveled to the present, and ate a man-made electrolyzer. This electrolyzer allowed it to convert water into hydrogen and oxygen.

The oxygen produced from the electrolyzer were stored in an organ, named the Oxyrectum above the digestive rectum. This oxygen could be released while farting to produce an explosive reaction, lifting the Spinosaurus upward.

Conclusion

Spinosaurus can fly like go wheeee brrrrrt and vrooooom its a jet plane now you cant prove me wrong brrrrrrtttttttrtt

I decided to make a Pterosaur and Sea Episode in 2.I just like ‘em das all.

1.Hesperornis

About a meter long,it shows that Dinosaurs are ruling every part of the globe,they have a niche like ducks,diving down to hunt prey,but their not safe from underwater predators.

2.Geosternbergia

Pteranodon is probably a Nomen Dubium so I used it’s larger relative/the true Pteranodon.A 70 Kg animal with a wingspan of 7.5 Meters.The main lead is a father hunting to feed his family.

3.Dolychorinchops

A 3 Meter short necked plesiosaur,showing diversity among sea fauna.They try to attack the male before realizing that he is to big.

4.Styxosaurus

A 12 Meter,8 Ton Plesiosaur.The other main lead is a male who grows from youngboi to an adult.They mostly eat fish but are fierce and extremely aggressive to most predators because Plesiosaurs deserve your love guys.

5.Tylosaurus

A 12 Meter,7 Ton relative of the Mosasaurus,but it’s far from that Kaiju we saw.It attacks a Styxosaurus in the beginning of the episode but it’s shown not as malicious intent,but rather to feed her growing children who are shown as being born tail first.Also sharks don’t immediately attack the kids like a freaking monster lmao.Also it iconically breaches,probably to attack the Geosternbergia but missed cuz plot armor.

6.Clidastes

A 2.5 Meter dwarf Mosasaur,their like the Ornitholestes from Time of the Titans being vicious attackers for the baby Styxosaurus but soon being chumps compared to the kids.They are also shown being hunted by Tylosaurus and Squalicorax.

7.Squalicorax

A 5 Meter shark that goes full on Genealist,they hunt anything from Styxosaurus juveniles to nearly dead Tylosaurus.They are also shown breaching to attack our Geosternbergia and kill him(We need sad endings lol) like the iconic video of the Shark jumping out the water to catch a seal.

8.Enchoteuthis

Tusoteuthis is dubious y’all,Enchoteuthis is the real name.This 10 Meter squido is invincible to most attacks except Tylosaurus who probably has to deal with nasty ink.

This is the 2nd to last episode,the final is on an island with unusual predators

So,is it Hateg,Lameta or Maverno formation?You all need to guess.
