A new set of fossil trackways from South Korea shows surprisingly long spacing between between steps made by a small microraptorine (ichnotaxon Dromaeosauriformipes). Relative to body size, the strides were three times as long as that of an ostrich and nearly twice as long as that of a kangaroo rat.
Basically, the microraptorine was using its wings to get some air time when running at high speeds, and also to help with braking and turning.
