What is Epentarias is actually a large Allosaurus, some animal individuals can grow bigger than usual.

Full name: Dalianraptor cuhe

Meaning: Dalian theif

Found: Jiufotang Formation in the Liaoning Province of China

Age: ~120 Ma (Early Cretaceous; Aptian)

Classification: Theropoda, Aves (initially believed to be Dromaeosauridae? indet.)

Size: 80 cm (31 inches) long

Holotype: D2139

Holotype found: Before 2000s

First mentioned: mid 2000s (pre 2005)

Described by: Gao & Liu, 2005 (Gao and Liu (2005). "A new avian taxon from Lower Cretaceous Jiufotang Formation of western Liaoning." Global Geology, 24(4), 313-316.)

Facts:

Dalianraptor was similar to the contemporary Jeholornis, but Dalianraptor was likely a flightless bird because it had a large thumb digit.

The placement of Dalianraptor within Aves is unknown.

It is now being suspected that D2139 was a chimera of the back end of a Jeholornis fossil and the front end of an unnamed flightless dinosaur, which was possibly non-avian.
