For 165 Million Years, the Dinosaurs ruled the world
A Majungasaurus roars at another Majungasaurus
While living in their shadows were a group of animals which couldn't have been more different. These were our ancestors - small furry creatures called mammals, clinging to safety wherever they could.
A Vintana barely avoids a Masiakasaurus
But the mammals' time would come.
The Dinosaurs were thriving all well and good, until a meteor 10 kilometres wide slammed into Earth to mark the end of the reign of dinosaurs. This series is about what happened next. The survivors of the extinction all had one thing in common - their size. Nearly every animal over 10 kilograms had been wiped out.leaving a world of little creatures. Among them were the mammals. In Walking with Beasts, you will witness how mammals left behind these small beginnings, and took over the world.
A Vulpavus sniffs around
In the course of twenty million years, got more and more succesful, until they were the biggest, fiercest, and most spectacular animals on the planet. Whatever the climate, whatever the habitat, mammals made it their own. Their great strength was their ability to adapt. They grew to gigantic sizes. They evolved into powerful killers, like the famous saber-toothed cats.
A Homotherium eats a carcass
And they even laid claims to the ocean
An Acrophyseter chases an Acrophoca
Then, around four million years ago, came mankind's own origins, in a type of ape that came down from the trees, and walked upright. Our story of this epic time finishes just thirty thousand years ago, with the ice ages, when our planet turned cold, and our ancestors hunted in the realm of the mammoth.
Some early homonids chase away a Homotherium
A Flash happens and it shows Colombia,60 Million Years Ago
This is Colombia,60 Million years Ago,but this giant swamp,as big as the Sahara Desert,is even more hot and humid than the Amazon,this...
Created the largest snake to ever exist
A Titanoboa slithers into the water
Titanoboa,at 12 Meters long and a little under a Ton,this animal is the size of a Water Buffalo
The Titanoboa slinks into the water
It's massive size means that it spends most of it's time in the water.
The Titanoboa sees a spiny back and starts hissing
But even this giant needs to be cautious,as there are dangerous animals in the waters
An Anthracosuchus swims away from the Snake and goes onto land to sunbathe.
Anthracosuchus, the largest predator here,9 Meters in Length and 4 Tons in weight. While occasional they will go after Titanoboa, but thats only a sometimes thing.
An unidentified herbivore runs away from the water and into the forest
A Xenungulata ruins into a thicket to graze
At around 1.5 Meters Long this is as big as the mammals get.
The Xenungulata keep eating
While the age of the dinosaurs is over, mammals are just starting to get bigger, and the hotter climate,35 degrees, makes giant reptiles, again.
The Xenungulata keep feeding
These animals stay away from the water, they don't want to become a meal for an Acherontisuchus or Titanoboa.
A Paleopilopterus flies down and starts pecking at the floor
While unassuming now, these are the early relatives of the terrible Terror Birds, but now, their the size of a large swan.
The Palaeopilopterus flied to the river and starts drinking, when something jumps up and nearly grabs it,just escaping.
This,is Cerrejonisuchus,at 2 Meters long,it's not much larger than a spectacled Caiman, but that doesn't make it a harmless little animal.
The Cerrejonisuchus looks around and finds a Ceratodus, stalking it.
Ceratodus, for nearly 200 Million Years these 70 Centimeter Lungfish lived on Earth, making a meal for things around the world.
Eventually, the Cerrejonisuchus launches after the Ceratodus and grabs it,instantly killing it.
This meal won't last long though
The Cerrejonisuchus swims away soon after as a Titanoboa grabs and eats the Ceratodus.
The reptiles are ruling now,but this will not be the case for long.
Known as the Thermal Maximum, from the extinction of the dinosaurs to the end of the Paleocene, this increase in heat caused these giant reptiles.
The Titanoboa slithers off when it sees an Anthracosuchus hunting.
A herd of Xenungulata walk towards the river.
Just like modern Crocodiles,Anthracosuchus can sense when animals are drinking because of their imppressive electromagnetic sensing, just like sharks.
Eventually,a Xenungulata gets to close into the water.....and
The Anthracosuchus jumps out, grabbing that Xenungulata and dragging it into the water.
Crocodilians cannot chew,so they chop up their prey in other ways.
The Anthracosuchus jumps up and starts shaking it's head like a mad man
Using the force of the water combined with the power of it's jaws, this animal thrashes around it's 200 Kilogram Treat.
The Xenungulata gets thrashed around everywhere.
Soon after the Anthracosuchus leaves a few Cerrejonisuchus start eating the remains, but they quickly leave as a Carbonemys appears and starts eating the rest.
With a shell length of 1.8 Meters, this is one of the largest freshwater turtles to ever exist.
A Palaeopilopterus lands onto the Carbonemys, looking down at the Cerrejonisuchus.
This truely was the second age of reptiles, but this won't last forever.
5 Million Years later...
We see entire herds of Xenungulata walking through the forests of Colombia while a Titanoboa desperately looks for a meal.
The Gigantic Crocodilians are long gone, and the once numerous Titanobo are critically endagered, only 400 are left.
The Titanoboa tries striking at the Xenungulata, but it's no use.
This is the end of the thermal maximum, the Earth is cooling, causing the fall of the giant reptiles.
A Carbonemys swims through the river, seeing a bunch of dead Titanoboa.
A Paleopilopterus flies down and starts eating a dead Titanoboa.
Now,begins,the Age of Mammals
The Xenungulata grumble at the air.
Next Time...
The age of Mammals has truely began
A Harpagolestes starts chasing a young Uintatherium
And Birds have also went from rarely seen to everywhere, and diverse
A Gastornis runs through a forest
But the reptiles haven't given up just yet,and now there is one as large as a Tiger and fast as a race horse.
A Boverisuchus kills a Hyrachus.

Since this is the last animal added to V 1.0, here are some plans for V 1.1:
Palaeocastor
Deinotherium
Mesonyx
And still a lot more, since these are only 3!
@Parkersaurus @Man with no name or life @Skorpiovenator bustingorry
Mammoth vs. Smilodon
Smilodon runs at the mammoth, but is impaled by the tusks. It is then stomped on for good measure.
Onchopristis vs. Spinosaurus
Onchopristis is swimming in a river, but is snatched up by the jaws of Spinosaurus.
Titanoboa vs. Carbonemys
Titanoboa goes around Carbonemys and starts constricting. It breaks through the shell, and the rest is easy for the giant snake.
