Ankylosaurus

(Translation: FINAL COURSE)

The travelers wer about to go when they were stopped by some other users. It was Mruojig (Xelero) and Kyle. "So, we were thinking... Can we come with you?" Mruojig asked, Kyle beside him. "Um...Sure!" Mruo smiled before joining the group. Kyle tried to come, but Nagan made up an excuse that only 3 people could come. Nagan could not deal with Kyle for now. Not again. Never again. Despite his protests, Kyle snuck by, dragging Fred and Goji with him.

"Hello, again-HOLY SH*T YOU BROUGHT ONE HERE?!?!"

"Huh-HOLY SH*T KYLE?!?!"

"Hi"

"Oh. It's a different Kyle, also I brought one of my friends named Mruojig...And Fred I guess...And Goji."

"...Alright, fine, they can stay. But, now with the final thing needed for my machine..."

Scientist of the Stars tinkered with his machine a bit, resulting in it coming to life.

"Aha! We can now go to the area between dimensions, the Great Void! I named it myself!"

"...What a...Fantastic name."

"Oh, shut up Vigil10, you're just a bunch of nothing and red stars with limbs and a mind."

"Excuse me! >:("

"...Anyways, I have also brought another great mind with me to make new equipment for y'all! I introduce..."

A blue humanoid with yellow stars, glasses, and a white lab coat stepped out the shadows. He held a large crate in front of him.

"I am Smart789 (please don't criticize the name). I have had experience with different dimensions before and I think I can help with this project."

He set the crate down and opened it, revealing new, strange equipment.

"I present: Orylis. This crystal will allow you to teleport anywhere, anytime. And the best part is that it's fast and easy! I have placed it in some of this stuff you see here. Along with that, I have a lot of other stuff that is very complicated which we will spend the rest of the day practicing with! Places people!"

And so they went, training their hearts out. At the end of the day, they were introduced to their new portable sleeping area (Nagan and Vigil were originally sleeping on the lab's floor)! The next day they woke up and went to the lab. The newbies were busy living their best life while Vigil and Nagan were wondering where all this was when they first got there.

"Alright! Were all ready to go!"

"Hold on there, Fred, we have a quick announcement to make."

They were all...Well, they stayed where they were, there wasn't a portable stage. "So...Knowing that this might be dangerous, we wanted to see if you wanted to do anything before you went into the Great Void." the scientists explained, a little worried. "Well...We can do some exploring." Goji suggested. "Oh...Uh...Ok." and with that, they were set off on their own. They went to a random dimension, ending up in a blackish-gray facility.

"...Miraxis?"

"If this was Miraxis, I don't why a giant "New Future Industries" is on the wall."

"...Huh. Was Fred the only one who noticed that?"

"...Well, guess we should explore a bit. Just in case though, you stay in here, Goji."

"Ok... :("

The rest of the gang went through different portals and explored the large facility. It was tower and it looked like they arrived in the middle of it. In front of Goji was a giant panel with buttons, screens, levers, and all of the sort. There was one button labeled "BLOOD MOON RELEASE" that Goji REALLY wanted to press. It was red and practically BEGGING to be pushed. So he did. And suddenly a group of Blood Moon Leviathans "swam" out the now open hatches in the tower. These machines were the same type Nagan encountered earlier, and now there was more then just one. Great. Just fantastic.

"I literally can not trust you with anything for more then 5 seconds, Vigil."

"That's my specialty-..."

"...What?"

"I just had a horrible thought."

"What was it-You know what? Knowing you I don't wanna really know what it was anymore-HEY LOOK UP THERE!"

He pointed to one of the leviathans that had just spotted them. Nagan jumped up and fought the one that spotted them while Vigil found and destroyed another. Fred encountered and fought another with Kyle and Mruojig fought one on his own. Soon, all of the leviathans were destroyed except M's. It was on the ground, but getting up. M was up in the air, preparing to punch the machine when his punching hand started to release some purple colored energy. When M finally hit the machine, a giant boom rang through the facility with a bright burst of purple energy going up in the air above the spot where he attacked. Smoke rose up.

"M?!" Fred yelled, seeing the event. He jumped down, but was caught by Nagan, who was anxious about anybody getting hurt. Everyone was already injured enough, so a potential explosion or something like that could finish them off. Vigil rushed down, bringing Nagan and Fred (against Nagan's wishes). Soon, Kyle came as well. "M?!" Fred yelled again, until a black silhouette walked amongst the smoke. Soon, the gas cleared, and Mruojig stood there. Not harmed any more then he originally was. Alive.

For me, these are the top 10:

10. Ankylosaurus:

This was a touch choice in my opinion, choosing between Ankylosaurus, Carnotaurus, and Parasaurolophus. The (not really) living tank ends up making the top 10.

9. Brachiosaurus:

An iconic sauropod, known for its scene in the og Jurassic Park. Idrk what else to put here for Brachiosaurus. It's definitely more well-known than Ankylosaurus, but not so much with the next one on the list.

8. Giganotosaurus:

A massive carnivore, Giganotosaurus got most of its popularity before 2021 from rivalling T-rex in size. Ever since the release of Jurassic World: Dominion, Giganotosaurus has continued to rapidly rise in popularity. Most people just call it "Gigantosaurus" though, but I'm obviously not putting a random dubious sauropod on this list.

7. Stegosaurus:

Dunno what to say here other than that Stegosaurus is iconic herbivore that's known for its dorsal plates and thagomizers. Could be interchangeable with Giganotosaurus in terms of fame. Definitely more recognizable/distinguishable than the latter though.

6. Spinosaurus:

Although formerly infamous for its role in the 2001 film, Jurassic Park 3, and its rivalry with T-rex in 2000s to early 2010s internet debates, Spinosaurus has had a resurgence in popularity among non-dinofans in the 2020s. Mainly helped by the constant scientific debates and new research papers published on the animal's anatomy and possible lifestyle, as well as internet memes (maybe Camp Cretaceous too), the popularity of Spinosaurus is still rapidly growing, and will most likely surpass the next one on the list (within the next few years or so).

5. Allosaurus:

Pretty much the default Jurassic carnivore. 100% of paleo enthusiasts know what Allosaurus is, but it just barely fails to make the top 4, since it still has a long way to go before reaching the recognizability the next 4 have for the general public. It's been frequently mentioned and featured in popular media in the past, but its popularity there has died down a little lately. Also known as the "lion of the Jurassic."

4. Triceratops:

Now we're actually getting into the dinosaurs that a good majority of the general public knows about. Known for its 3 horns, Triceratops was pretty much the only dinosaur from Hell Creek known to be definitively capable of killing a healthy adult T-rex. You could point to a picture a Triceratops and nowadays most people could tell you what the genus is, although it's kinda surprising since it's gotten next to zero significant roles in any of the Jurassic Park movies/TV shows.

3. Velociraptor:

The most iconic non-avian theropod (aside from T-rex) that almost everyone knows about. I put Velociraptor lower than the next two mostly because people just call it "raptor" (which is more of an umbrella term for dromaeosaurs) than its actual genus name. Still, it's an iconic animal to both paleo and non-paleo enthusiasts. Also the Toronto Raptors are named after them (obviously).

2. Brontosaurus:

Pretty much the sauropod. The average joe usually calls every long-necked dinosaur a "Brontosaurus." T-rex and Brontosaurus are the two dinosaur names that everybody knows by default. Those two are leagues above every other dino genus when it comes to fame.

My version:

Scout- Anchisaurus (Closest Massachusetts dinosaur I can find for Scout)

Soldier- Ankylosaurus (Don't have to explain it)

Pyro- Pyroraptor (Pyro's origins and reign is ambiguous, but fits)

Demoman- Megalosaurus (Since Megalosaurus was discovered from Scotland)

Heavy- Oloratitan (Oloratitan is discovered from Russia and are big dinosaurs (not by fat, but still)

Engineer- Pawpasaurus (An ankylosaur that was lived in Texas, I bet it be Engie's pet dino)

Medic- Plateosaurus (Not much to say about this one)

Sniper- Australovenator (Both Australian beings)

Spy- Liliensternus (Both agile and sneaky)

The reason these choices cause I was finding the prehistoric animals where they were discovered and these be the closest that can be as the mercs in my opinion.

I have been fascinated by dinosaurs since 2016, and naturally I have been drawing them for a similar amount of time. Recently, I uncovered a bunch of old dinosaur drawings I did when I was 8, and I decided to redraw the dinosaurs, showing how my art style has changed from the ages of 8, 12 and 15.

Anyways, enough exposition. Here’s the drawings:

Pteranodon

Yes, I know it isn’t a dinosaur, but still. Pterosaurs are some of my favourite things to draw, so naturally they have changed overtime.

2018

This drawing is certainly far from accurate (as you will see with my other 2018 drawings). The pterosaur, while cute, is very disproportionate, with stick-like legs, an inaccurate skull and sometimes the crest is even drawn separate from the body (something you will see more and more with these drawings). The colours I used in the 2018 drawing was blue or grey, depending on the image. Also, this Pteranodon lacks fingers on its wing or a tail.

2022

A reoccurring theme you will see with the 2021/2022 depictions are that they are heavily based off the Jurassic World versions of the species, if present. While this Pteranodon is better proportioned, it lacks pycnofibres. Also, I couldn’t draw a pterosaur walking on all fours at the time, so I only ever drew Pteranodon flying.

2025

This is probably my most accurate depiction, possessing the Pycnofibres. The way the wings fold when walking is based off how they depict it in Prehistoric Planet. In fact, you may also notice that while drawing this, I had the Tethydraco from the show in my head. I gave it a curved beak similar to Tethydraco/Pteranodon sternbergi because I initially planned to represent it as the latter.

Carnotaurus

Well, Carnotaurus has certainly evolved over time…

2018

Remember what I said about drawing the crest separate with Pteranodon? Here you can see an example of that; all the body parts, even the upper and lower jaws, are separate shapes. The hands have three fingers, and are sticks. It is also, for some reason, standing far more upright than Carnotaurus would in reality.

2022

Again, the Jurassic World influence is ever present here. This Carnotaurus is massively better than its predecessor, but there are a few errors; the skull is too Tyrannosaur-like, and this Carnotaur has downwards-facing wrists (IDK how that would even be possible with their near-lack of arms)

2025

A few smaller changes here, nothing as drastic as with the Pteranodon. Arms are more accurate, and have the correct number of fingers. The 2025 Carnotaurus also has lips and osteoderms.

Ankylosaurus

Ankylosaurus is a dinosaur that I nailed pretty early on. But before I nailed it, Jesus!

2018

Like the Carnotaurus, I drew the body parts of the Ankylosaurus separate. The skull was also just a circle, with a beak also separated. The armour had no spikes and I also gave it a really vibrant colour scheme.

2022-2024

After that ‘creature’, I got better at drawing Ankylosaurus. I tried to draw my 2022 Ankylosaurus twice, but both times it had very little difference to the Ankylosaurus I drew for the JP Wiki last September. Massive improvement; the skull isn’t a circle (it’s a rectangle :D) and it has spikes. This was also based off the version in the Jurassic Films, so was spikier than its real-life counterpart.

2025

There is very few differences here, except the skull is no longer a geometric shape, the feet are less elephant-like and the spikes are less spiky.

Brachiosaurus

2018

Like the previous dinosaurs, the body of the 2018 Brachiosaurus is drawn in separate pieces. The neck was always difficult to draw. Sometimes it was too thin, other ones it was too thick. Sometimes it was too long, other ones it was weird shape. The colour was a generic beige green, likely inspired by the green colours of JP///‘s Brachiosaurus. The front limbs are also the same size as the hind limbs.

2022

I’ve always struggled with Brachiosaurus’ skull, so this is actually far better than most of my 2022 depictions. You get the idea, however. It is based off the Jurassic World ‘Brachiosaurus’, which in turn is based off Giraffatitan.

2025

This is probably one of my favourite drawings of the past year. I’ve made the neck thicker and less S-shaped, edited the feet to be less elephant-like and added some speculative spikes going down the Brachiosaur’s back.

Edmontosaurus and the Hell Creek Dromaeosaurid were added (Dromaeosaurid based on Dakotaraptor since the vertebra attributed to this dromaeosaurid were part of the Dakotaraptor chimera thing. That's why it says Sp.)
