Abelisauridae

So I was just thinking today, we know that various groups of dinosaurs inhabited Antarctica during the Maastrichtian, specifically Titanosaurs, Ankylosaurs, Elasmarians, Unenlagiines, Megaraptorans, and Hadrosaurs. Now all these groups were present in South America at the time, so I'd imagine that they migrated from there (or maybe Australia, but Hadrosaurs never lived in Australia, or not that I know of). Since Abelisaurids were also thriving in South America, I wondered if maybe they could've gotten to Antarctica as well.

What do you guys think? Could Abelisaurids have reached Antarctica?

I remember reading somewhere (I think it was Wikipedia) that an unnamed genus of Abelisaur lived on Hațeg Island. I haven’t been able to find anymore information on it. Does anyone have any knowledge on this (or know if it even exists)? If so please share. I’m curious about it.

The Lake Erie Formation is a wide formation originating from the Albian-Cenomanian Appalachia (modern-day Great Lakes) in the Mid-Cretaceous.

It was mostly floodplains, with deltas, streams, and bogs making up most of the environment, and containing all sorts of vegetation, such as Cretaceous redwoods, regnellites, ground fibre, and ground fruit, and possibly early pteridosperms. The known fauna (to in-universe paleontologists) include:

Four Months after the Chixculub Impact

Hateg Island is unrecognisable from what it had been before the impact. As the ash clouds covered the Earth, plants are no longer growing in any great fashion, and the island’s native herbivores are the first to suffer. Since most of the herbivores are dead, the remaining carnivores are having a temporary buffet of carcasses to scavenge. A starving abelisaur (“Megalosaurus hungaricus”) feasts on the remains of a small theropod. It’s his first meal in three days.

I had an idea about a speculative evolution for abelisaurid dinosaurs. Call me crazy but...

I think that this type of dinosaur would have left the front limbs in favor of greater agility and flexibility, something like snakes.

Think about it: Why have hands, when you have an effective bite and BIG LEGS for speed?
